View Full Version : Most Overrated Series?

What do you think the most overrated series is in all of anime?

For me, it's a tie between Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist. FMA seems like an okay show, but it's just an amalgamation of every other show from the past ten years. And from what I've seen of Naruto, it should only be appealling to 11-year-old boys who wear eyepatches and climb trees.

Inuyasha or Naruto.

Naruto. I watched one episode in Japan and thought it was utter garbage. After that, I watched that Conan show (the child detective)...took the bad Naruto taste out of my mouth.

Umm...Inuyasha. 100%. It seems like a really bad DBZ for teenage girls that shop at Hot Topic. Same with Full Metal Alchemist.

I've never seen Naruto...precisely for the same reason to. The US has got to start showing good anime on TV more. We demand more Gundam, Outlaw Star, and Tenchi Muyo!

I agree on Inuyasha. I haven't seen too many episodes but it seems like something I could get into.

I haven't seen Inuyasha yet, but I'm pretty sure you guys are right. Isn't he supposed to be a demon fox too?

Naruto. I can handle the manga just not the anime. Either of them.

I haven't seen Naruto much but the few episodes I have seen, the animation drove me a lil nuts.

But I can definitely agree with you all about Inu Yasha. Actually, according to some anime fan magazine, Inu Yasha is supposedly one of the ten best animes of all time. UGH...

I'd say DBZ is the most overrated but I suppose that Inu Yasha tops it slightly.

Don't you just love it when emo kids dress up in Naruto crap?

Maybe it's cause I'm a girl, but I think DBZ is sooooo overrated! The animation style just irks me.

Inu Yasha was cool the first few episodes I saw, but I haven't seen any lately and when I do catch one from time to time, it seems to me that nothing has progressed in the story line.

That's exactly the thing that gets me with DBZ. The animation is TERRIBLE. To me, it screams that there was a low budget for each of the sagas. I mean, how many of the episodes actually feature a full fight where they don't recycle the animation more than once? Or how about when the super saiyans get "so fast" that you can't see them fighting and they show a single frame of the background?

I dunno... The series has always drove me nuts and it drives me even more crazy when people say that DBZ is even remotely a good anime.

I probably would be if someone did a drastic re-write fanfic. Generally, I always like the IDEA of DBZ, just not the current application of it.

I've always disliked DBZ for the animation...

What do you mean? Like how a battle scene takes upto 5 episodes to finish up? [/sarcasm]

I dislike DBZ, but it was made in the 1989-1996 timeframe when Legend of Zelda, Captain Planet, and Rambo were on. I am willing to accept it's abhorrent animation sequences because it had better-than-average animation at the time. Goku's ridiculous optimism, the undefined timeline, and five-episode battles make me dislike it. However, Inuyasha and Naruto are ranked higher. That makes me hate them even more.

I never cared for DBZ...in fact I was gonna name that one when I saw this thread haha!
