Which do you think is better? Personaly I prefer the movies. I've tried watching a series from begining to end and I found that the plot somehow gets lost in all the space fighting and haduken blasting. As far as I've seen with the movies the plot doesn't get lost in all of this. You're thaughts.

I agree that movies are better. It's a concentrated effort, and there are hardly any "filler" spots to leave you wanting more. Things get done in movies. Naturally I'm referring to such shows as Yu-Gi-Oh, which suck loads because they take the entire show to make a few moves.

Yeah...that show blows pretty hard. Fillers, while entertaining for the young and restless (when I was little, there was nothing more fun than watching a filller of DBZ, cause you know, they were funny at that age), get boring and dumb and repetitive after a while. How many times can you laugh at Goku scarfing down plates and plates of food? Many times....but not now. There are some series, however, that are better than movies. So I guess somewhere in the middle is good. OVAs are prbly the best if you want a series, but nothing too long and engrossing. Try the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs, "Trust and betrayal" or something. That is an excellent OVA, prbly one of the only OVAs that are better than the show itself.

The one exception I can think of is Ghost in the Shell. I wasn't all that into the movie, but the TV series is relatively interesting. Plus the opening title theme song (http://angelique.stormreaverclan.com/music/origa.mp3) is just plain cool.

I agree that some movies are better than the series and in other situations the series is better. As for me I prefer the series I enjoy to a point how some series go in depth on important issues.

hello all, imo series are far better than the movies!! In fact, movies woudlnt exist in first place without the series ! i also read a post about dragonball, you my friend got it wrong. Dragonball is not a humor series, it starts like that but get much more serius l8r !
Anyway, i think we cant trully compare series to movies cause if you compare Kensin series with the movies(ovas) i aggree the movies are better but it is a kensin movie after all, the creator wanted to make it a little better. However if you asked me what i would like the most i would say the series cause its bigger and has all the good parts of a movie(excluding the graphics)
:D

You're 24?
Animes don't have "graphics."
They have animations. And cels. The only anime with actual graphics (if you want to call it that...) is that crappy canadian anime Zoids. Anyone remember that? It had 3-D animation.
And I never called Dragonball a humor anime. I know its an action anime, thank you. But the comic releif gets tired after a while.
And you said "movies don't exist without series." No kidding. You can't make something out of nothing. Most anime movies are based off series, with many exceptions, I'm sure (I loved Kiki's Delivery Service when I was a kid). But that doesn't make them as good as the series. Which is why the "creator" of Rurouni Kenshin (as you so put it) decided to make an OVA showing the darker side of Rurouni Kenshin. And what better way to show something more serious than to animate it more realistically. I admit, they could have done a lot better by cutting out those scenes where they integrated actual objects into the anime (real water, real spinning top, etc), but overall it probably could stand on its own as a series. Or whatever you want to call it.
So to be completely honest with you, I'd rather sit down with a bowl of popcorn and watch a nice movie rather than watching an entire series. Besides, do you know how expensive that is? Evangelion box sets go for about $120 or more at Best Buy. I'm sure you could find better on E-Bay (I did, too, it was $25, but I was outbid, and I just forgot about it), but the fact is, I'm a movie person. But I can definitely watch a series, so don't hold me to that.
And Smoke...why don't you put your REAL age in your profile? Its obvious you aren't 24. Even I can openly admit I'm 15. And if you are 24?
God help you.
Wow this thread has been open for a loooong time.

listen kiddo, its really funny that you are stuck with my words(sorry for my english, god help me..i m greek ! ) while what you should see is the general idea of what i m saying. Graphics, animation...at that time i couldnt look for the right words or right grammar..Using the language in a correct way wasnt my purpose. And cause you are still a kid and you might not understand me yet, i will give you an example : I could say in the same way you did, hey smarty, there are six OVA's of Kensin and not one as you say in your post...but i dont do that cause i get your point.
You say you never said Dragonball is a humor anime, then why you judge it saying "they were funny at that age, get boring and dumb and repetitive after a while. How many times can you laugh at Goku scarfing down plates and plates of food? Many times....but not now". Critising in other words the funny "part" of dragonball episodes..
Anyway i dont wont to argue with you, imo everyone has his own opinion. I like dragonball, you like something else..I like series you like movies.. If all of us liked the same things THEN God help us..
And btw (lol), yes i am 24, still fan of dragonball and fan of animes and manga..
PS : forgive me for my english man..

Forgiven.
Just trying to make a point. Or....something.
TO be honest with you, I'm starting to drift away from the anime thing. Oh well.
Dust in the wind, now.

i have one thing to say to you m8, if you really like animes, then dont leave them because you grow up. Dont try to be like the others, just find ppl like you. I know how it is to be 16 and friends calling you stupid cause you like "kid things"... I 'm telling you this, i m 24 and still an anime fan. And i dont care what ppl think, i got my own personality and i ve found friends who like anime too. I got teachers in college who like anime and we also got a fan club..I got a girl who likes animes ;). Animes are not like little pony, they are not only for kids. So if you really like animes dont just leave them cause you think " i m a grown up now, i shouldnt be watching these things " :).

I'm 20 and will always be an anime fan. theres nothing wrong with it. But DBZ? nah. Fuimation ruined it for me.
Now, It's Naruto, and the classics: Neon Genesis Evangelion. Berserk, Cowboy Bebop, and Akira.
I prefer series over movies (or OVA's, the one's 30 eps or less.) Mainly because movies end too fast for someone like me.

I'm not saying I hate it. I just haven't had time lately to watch it, so I've slowly been watching less and less.
I'm a big fan of all of the above (Ted's post) and some others, like FLCL and Hellsing.
I feel bad for not having time to watch them. But anime DVDs are sooo expensive, and anyone who watches them will agree with me. At least $25. And I don't have that kind of cheese.
